Quantum in the Chips Act 2.0
In its white paper titled "Quantum in the Chips Act 2.0," the European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC) welcomes the inclusion of quantum technologies in the revised EU Chips Act proposal while pointing out a lack of concrete executive and financial instruments to support actual industrialisation. The document highlights that in light of recent acquisitions of neutral fabrication facilities and critical resources by American commercial entities, the European quantum sector faces severe supply-chain vulnerabilities. In response, QuIC calls on co-legislators to extend strategic project status to quantum chip manufacturing, establish multi-project wafer access, and clearly delineate competencies between the Chips Act and the upcoming Quantum Act.
