QYB – Quantum Yield Berlin GmbH is a deep-tech company and spin-out of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin. We develop high-performance electro-optical measurement systems which translate cutting-edge quantum science into practical industrial applications. Our metrology systems are used and trusted by research labs across the world. Now, we want to take the next step and follow technologies from the lab into industrial production lines.
Solution:
The proposed solution brings our validated quantum-enabled semiconductor quality assessment technology into a robust, high-throughput inline metrology system for industrial photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing. Our system provides a direct, non-destructive, and quantitative quality metric - accessible already during device fabrication. This allows for real-time quantification of performance losses and non-uniformities at every process step along the production of complex multilayer devices. Our solution is therefore expected to accelerate the establishment of new PV production lines while reducing scrap, material consumption, energy use, and embodied emissions.
