About the company:
Quantum Optical Technologies sp. z o.o. (QOPT) is a Polish SME established in 2021, bringing together researchers and engineers with backgrounds in quantum optics, photonics and cybersecurity. The company builds upon expertise developed in national and European R&D projects in the area of quantum optical communication systems and cryptographic protocols.
Challenge:
The challenge addressed is to provide an efficient and versatile physical layer security solution for optical communication systems.
Solution:
To secure data transmission against wiretap eavesdropping attacks on physical infrastructure, QOPT develops Optical Key Distribution (OKD), a physical layer security protocol that enables generation of cryptographic keys directly from signal transmission over optical fibre as well as wireless (e.g. satellite-to-ground) channels. QOPT aims at bringing the technology to the next development stage using commercial off-the-shelf components, such as transceiver modules in the pluggable form.
