Quantum Computing in the German Economy 2026: Between Expectation and Implementation
Published by the digital association Bitkom in 2026, the study report “Quantum Computing in the German Economy 2026: Between Expectation and Implementation” presents the comprehensive findings of a nationwide telephone survey conducted among 607 German companies with 100 or more employees across manufacturing and service sectors (between Q4 2025 and early 2026).
The report highlights that while quantum computing (QC) is widely recognized strategically as an important future technology, a significant gap remains between general openness and actual operational implementation. Many companies see long-term competitive potential but hesitate due to technological uncertainties, lack of resources, and unclear use cases, leading a majority to adopt a "wait-and-see" approach.
